Venus rising on Namibia’s offshore horizon as TotalEnergies progresses oil field development

TotalEnergies, a French energy company, and its partners are progressing in the development of a large oil find in the Orange Basin off Namibia’s coast. The Venus field development is moving forward with the support of TotalEnergies’ partner, the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), and other joint venture partners like Impact Oil and Gas and QatarEnergy. Despite a recent exploration well not yielding results, the focus remains on the commercial potential of the Venus field. The final investment decision for the project is expected in early 2026, with environmental and social impact assessments in progress. The partners’ confidence in the Venus discovery highlights Namibia’s emergence as an important hydrocarbon province.
