Tyler Smith’s Smash Burgers
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Yields: 6 servings
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20)
6 to 12 slices of mild cheddar cheese (for single or double cheese)
6 brioche hamburger buns
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup mustard
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup pickle juice
Sliced pickles (optional)
Instructions
Divide the ground beef into 6 balls (approximately 3-4 ounces each).
Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Place a ball of beef in the pan and press it flat with a burger press or spatula. Sprinkle a little salt. Once the edges become crispy (about 2-3 minutes), use a metal spatula to separate the burger from the pan. Flip the burger, add 1-2 cheese slices, and cover for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts. Remove from heat and repeat for the remaining burger balls.
Toast the buns in the pan for 2-3 minutes on low-medium heat until browned.
Prepare the sauce by mixing mayo, mustard, ketchup, and pickle juice in a bowl. Spread the sauce on the buns, place the burgers, and enjoy!
