Two SUV Models Are Being Recalled By Ford Because Of A Potential Brake Issue

Ford has announced a recall for two SUV models manufactured between 2022 and 2024 due to concerns over the reliability of the brakes. The decision came after numerous service reports raised suspicions about a potential issue with the braking system.
The recall involves nearly 274,000 Ford Expedition and luxury Lincoln Navigator vehicles in the United States, as there is a defect that could result in the loss of braking function while driving, thereby increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
As per documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front brake pipes in these vehicles might be touching the engine air intake and exhaust pipes due to a possible incorrect installation method. This contact could lead to brake fluid leaks and/or loss of braking function.
Approximately 223,315 Ford Expedition vehicles and 50,474 Lincoln Navigators produced between 2022 and 2024 are affected by the recall. Ford believes that around one percent of the vehicles may have this defect, according to the recall report.
Although no accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the problem, there have been 45 reports of brake fluid leaking from the front pipes as of April 17.
To address this issue, authorized Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the front brake lines on the impacted vehicles and replace or repair them, along with the air intake lines, at no cost. Repair notifications began on Wednesday, and letters to owners are set to be sent out between May 26 and 30.
Drivers can verify if their vehicle is subject to this recall by visiting the official NHTSA website or using Ford’s recall checker tool. The internal number for this recall at Ford is 25S47.
The documents also mention that drivers may observe increased brake pedal travel, indicating the need for more braking force. In case of a brake fluid leak, the fluid level will decrease over time, potentially triggering a red warning on the instrument panel.
