Two High Ranking Security Agents Killed In Masvingo Mutimurefu Accident

Last night, a tragic accident involving multiple vehicles claimed the lives of two senior security officers at Mutimurefu in Masvingo. The collision occurred near Mutimurefu Prison and resulted in the deaths of Gift Nyama, a high-ranking Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) official, and Masimba Blessing Mandimutsira, a Principal Correctional Officer at the prison. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM on a dangerous section of the Masvingo-Mutare Highway. Nyama’s vehicle collided with a stationary tractor lacking reflectors, while Mandimutsira was struck by another vehicle while responding to the initial crash. Nyama died instantly from neck injuries, and Mandimutsira passed away at Masvingo Provincial Hospital. This tragic event has raised concerns about road safety measures in the area. Superintendent Francis Makonese, Officer-in-Charge of Prisons, confirmed the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
