Trimble has introduced a new Siteworks Machine Guidance Module designed for tilt bucket attachments, providing excavator operators with comprehensive 3D machine guidance at the bucket’s cutting edge. This feature enables operators to efficiently navigate confined spaces and create contoured landscapes for various projects such as grading, leveling, ditch cleaning, shaping, backfilling, and complex slope work.
The upgrade expands the capabilities of the Trimble Siteworks Software, allowing field operators to utilize the same system for surveying, layout, on-machine guidance, and operator assistance for tilt buckets and tilt couplers. According to Trimble, the system can be easily transferred between machines and job sites using a straightforward machine kit installation and the Siteworks Machine Guidance software module.
Trimble initially launched Siteworks Machine Guidance for excavators in 2023 and for compact track loaders in 2024. Elwyn McLachlan, vice president of civil solutions at Trimble, emphasized that Siteworks Machine Guidance offers an integrated solution for both layout and excavation, empowering operators with real-time 3D guidance at the tilt bucket’s tip. The system includes the Trimble R780 GNSS Smart Antenna with tilt compensation and the Trimble ProPoint positioning engine, along with a Trimble field tablet running Siteworks software.
Owners have the flexibility to use any compatible device supporting Siteworks, while Trimble WorksManager Software facilitates sharing designs, accessing remote support, and ensuring project progress. By utilizing a real-time Trimble correction service like Trimble CenterPoint RTX, contractors can achieve enhanced mobility and high-accuracy positioning globally via satellite or cellular/IP. The Siteworks Machine Guidance for tilt bucket attachments is set to be available worldwide through Sitech and select Trimble Technology Outlets in the second quarter of 2025. Trimble Works Subscription plans enable civil contractors to combine software and hardware solutions under a single yearly contract.
