This MGA Restomod Has a Miata’s Soul. And It’s Brilliant

In the UK, a woman came up with a brilliant idea. She desired a classic MG to cruise around in, but not the common MGB that everyone goes for. Her aim was a reliable vehicle that would not break down, so she approached Abingdon’s Frontline Cars, specialists in creating durable and electric MGBs, to customize her car.

This lady’s experience driving the Frontline MGA Factory Edition was one of the highlights of her car journeys in 2025. Frontline is known for revamping MGBs, having initially focused on modifying MG Midgets for racing. They recognized the opportunity to enhance the performance, reliability, and luxury of the abundant MGBs available worldwide.

The lady did not opt for an MGB but instead requested an MGA, appreciating its older and sleeker design. Thus, the Frontline MGA Factory Edition was created, offering a choice between a 2.0 or 2.5-liter Mazda-derived four-cylinder engine producing 225 or 290 horsepower, mated to a Mazda MX-5 gearbox for smooth shifting.

Frontline’s enhancements extended beyond performance upgrades. The vehicle’s brakes, springs, and chassis were upgraded, and the wooden floors were replaced with steel for improved ride and handling. The interior was fitted with luxurious leather, alloy bucket seats, USB slot, Bluetooth audio, and modern electrics to maintain functionality.

While the restored MG maintains its classic appearance, customers can request modifications like a de-bumpered design with a perspex racing screen. The package, priced at £145,000 ($195,000) plus local taxes, targets committed enthusiasts. Despite the cost, Frontline’s reputation guarantees top-notch workmanship.
