Salina, KS, April 18, 2025 – An advocate dedicated to advancing Democratic candidates in conservative rural regions will headline the annual gathering of the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women on April 26 in Salina. Jessica Piper, a former high school literature teacher from Missouri, transitioned into political activism after an unsuccessful bid as a Democrat in her GOP-dominated district. Now leading Blue Missouri, she aims to mobilize progressives in areas traditionally loyal to the Republican Party. Piper, known for her podcast “Dirt Road Democrat,” emphasizes the importance of providing voters with choices and ending uncontested races in state legislatures. She will address the public from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Salina, discussing strategies for success in rural spaces. The event, with an admission fee of $25, can be booked on the KFDW website. The convention will feature discussions, networking, and presentations on supporting Democratic causes.
