Are you a baking enthusiast? Do you enjoy watching The Great British Baking Show or simply love indulging in cookies? If so, you’re invited to join the Bon Appétit Bake Club. Senior editors Jesse and Shilpa, who are resident bakers in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen, are passionate about baking and eager to discuss the ins and outs, successes, and failures that come with it. The Bake Club functions like a book club but dedicated to baking. Each month, a meticulously tested recipe is shared for members to bake and engage with the community. Participants can share their baking results, ask questions, and connect with fellow baking enthusiasts. The goal is to create a community of confident and curious bakers who find joy in the baking process as much as in the final outcomes.
To join the club, follow these steps:
1. Bake the recipe of the month, which can be found below.
2. Join the Close Friends group on Instagram by sending a direct message to @bonappetitmag with proof of your Good Appetite subscription.
3. Share photos of your bakes on Instagram using the hashtag #BABakeClub.
4. Provide feedback and ask questions in the Recipe Notes section on the Epicurious app.
5. Send baking inquiries to bakeclub@bonappetit.com or call 212-286-7071 for a chance to be featured on the podcast, with new episodes released at the beginning of each month on the Dinner SOS feed.
In May 2025, the featured recipe is Coffee Cake Scones. The scones went through multiple tests to achieve the perfect texture, finally finding success with the addition of sour cream. The tangy flavor enhances the scones, keeping them moist without being heavy. Topped with streusel clusters and a cinnamon sugar swirl, these scones are sure to be a hit with everyone, even the most discerning critics.
For the first time, the Bake Club will go live in May. Jesse and Shilpa will host a workshop in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen on May 16, where participants can bake the scones together and discuss all things baking while enjoying tea. Tickets are available for purchase for those in NYC who wish to attend.
Other recipes featured in previous months include Millionaire’s Shortbread, Pistachio Bundt Cake, Tiramisu Basque Cheesecake, Homemade Pizza, Chocolate Olive Oil Cake, and Caramel Apple Monkey Bread. Each recipe has been meticulously tested and perfected for baking enthusiasts to enjoy.
Stay tuned for more cake recipes in the upcoming months, and listen to the podcast featuring discussions about baking and recipes. If you have any baking questions, feel free to reach out to bakeclub@bonappetit.com.
