The Hotel Riu La Mola, situated on Formentera Island, has reopened after a comprehensive renovation to join the Riu Palace line, the top-tier option in the hotel chain, perfectly embodying the exclusive allure of the Mediterranean island. Additionally, the hotel, positioned next to Migjorn Beach, has been upgraded from a four-star to a four-star superior establishment.

This project is a significant milestone for RIU, as Luis and Roberto Rodríguez, sons of Luis Riu Güell and fourth-generation family members, took full control of the refurbishment, marking a first for the brothers. They were responsible for all decisions regarding the hotel’s design, amenities, and services, as well as overseeing a complete style transformation.

Although the hotel’s size remains the same post-renovation, its spaces have been optimized to create a unique atmosphere. The new décor reflects its Mediterranean roots and adds an exclusive touch in line with Formentera’s style. Throughout the construction and interior design process, the focus was on providing an unparalleled experience by combining functionality, sophistication, and aesthetics.

Noteworthy improvements include an expanded lobby that now offers a more spacious and visually appealing design for guests. The terrace has also been extended to provide panoramic views and a new outdoor area for events.

While still offering 345 rooms, each has been revamped to offer more space and a new look, prioritizing comfort and sophisticated design. The hotel now features eight suites with stunning Mediterranean views.

Additionally, the culinary offerings have been enhanced with the addition of a new à la carte restaurant, bringing the total to three: the main restaurant “Sargantana,” the gourmet “Krystal,” and the seafront snack restaurant “Ilios.”

The hotel’s fitness center, SPA, and solarium have also been renovated, and a new RIU Land Kid’s club with a children’s pool has been added. The hotel has a total of four pools, including three for adults and one for children.

The recently renovated Hotel Riu Palace at Mola, which was acquired by the chain in 1973, has received the Re Think Hotel Award for its sustainable renovation approach. This includes the installation of solar panels for energy self-sufficiency, the use of more efficient equipment, geothermal heat pump air conditioning, and other sustainable practices focused on water conservation and waste reduction.
