Hello food enthusiasts! I’m thrilled to be back with you this week after missing you all last week due to an emergency procedure. Now, I’m feeling better and excited to introduce you to Tina Cannon, a local chef, pitmaster, and content creator from Tina Cannon Cooks. Tina, born in Alabama and raised in Fayetteville, currently resides in Coweta County. I first noticed Tina a few years back when she competed and won Netflix’s Barbecue Showdown. I was impressed to see someone from our community excel on such a big platform.
A few years later, while shopping at a local store, I heard Tina’s voice and found her doing a cooking demonstration. Since then, Tina has become a friend whom I greatly admire for her culinary expertise and experience. I had the privilege of attending her whole hog cooking class last year, where she shared her knowledge and skills with us.
This week, I had a conversation with Tina as she prepared to represent Big Green Egg at the Memphis in May festival and barbecue contest. We discussed her upbringing in Fayette County, her experiences as a female chef and pitmaster in a male-dominated industry, and her future plans.
During our conversation, Tina shared insights about growing up in Fayette County, her early food influences, and breaking stereotypes in the barbecue industry. She expressed her passion for teaching and upcoming classes at Big Green Egg headquarters.
I believe Tina Cannon is not just a local gem but a culinary treasure. Her humility and openness during our conversation were truly appreciated. Make sure to follow Tina on social media, visit her website, and try out her delicious seasoning blends. And don’t forget to support local vendors like Tina at the Peachtree City Farmer’s Market.
