Thank you, Frank

Upon learning of Frank Destadio’s resignation from the City Council, my initial reaction wasn’t about politics but rather gratitude. I felt thankful for his dedication to the city, his admirable demeanor, and his unwavering support for individuals like myself. When I first joined the Planning Commission without prior experience in land use or city governance, Frank took me under his wing. He generously shared his knowledge of the Commission’s operations, guided me on making recommendations to the City Council, and emphasized the impact of our decisions on the city’s development.

Frank’s service spanned almost a decade on the Planning Commission, where he also held the position of chairman for several years. His subsequent election to the City Council in 2021 showcased his continued leadership, marked by his meticulous preparation, insightful inquiries, and commitment to the city’s well-being. His background in the United States Air Force and extensive experience in engineering and management underscored his ability to tackle complex issues comprehensively, while his principled leadership reflected his dedication to upholding Peachtree City’s vision and values.

Beyond his official roles, Frank’s community involvement extended to various organizations and activities, demonstrating his genuine commitment to service. As Mayor Learnard once noted, Frank’s mantra was “I should be doing more,” encapsulating his selfless dedication to serving the community. His legacy of thoughtful and principled leadership will endure even as he steps back from the City Council, leaving behind a lasting impact on Peachtree City’s governance and community spirit.

I am grateful for Frank’s mentorship during my time on the Planning Commission and inspired by his example of integrity and dedication. His contributions have undoubtedly enriched our community, and his legacy will continue to shape Peachtree City for the better.
