Lumina, a tech startup, has introduced a 32-ton all-electric prototype dozer with a 15-foot-wide blade and 750 horsepower, making it possibly the largest battery-electric dozer globally. The Moonlander ML6, as it is called, was showcased in San Francisco recently. Lumina’s CEO, Ahmed Shubber, shared that the dozer was custom-designed and marks their first prototype. The Moonlander can be operated from the cab, remotely, or autonomously, with an 8 to 10-hour runtime and a fast charging time of 50 minutes from 0% to 80%. The dozer features a 414-kilowatt-hour battery system, regenerative braking, 36-inch-wide steel tracks, and advanced tech like in-cab cameras and e-mirrors. Lumina aims to start an excavation business with the Moonlander and is working on an electric excavator prototype named Blade Runner. Shubber expressed optimism for the company’s future in a LinkedIn post, hinting at more products and revenue growth ahead.
