One of America’s most beloved restaurant chains, The Cheesecake Factory, known for its generous portion sizes and extensive menu, is facing accusations of “shrinkflation” from some of its loyal customers. Shrinkflation occurs when companies reduce product sizes while maintaining or increasing prices.
Members of a Cheesecake Factory Reddit group, consisting of 4,000 cheesecake enthusiasts, have recently raised concerns about the chain’s shrinking portion sizes. Some customers have observed that cheesecake slices are now smaller, despite the calorie count per slice listed on the website remaining the same.
Commenters on the Reddit thread shared similar experiences, noting that slices used to have 8 portions but now have 12, with prices having risen accordingly. Customers have expressed disappointment over the diminishing sizes of the cheesecake slices over the years.
Cheesecake enthusiasts also discussed the higher production costs of cheesecakes compared to regular cakes, attributing the expense to the substantial amount of cream cheese required. The issue of shrinkflation has affected other food franchises in the past, with PepsiCo increasing the number of chips in bags following similar complaints.
The Cheesecake Factory, which opened its first location in Beverly Hills in 1978, has not yet responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding the accusations of shrinkflation.
