Sri Lanka’s iconic tuskers ‘falling like dominoes,’ conservationists warn

Described as one of the most breathtaking wildlife events globally, “The Gathering” takes place in Sri Lanka’s Minneriya National Park. Annually, hundreds of elephants come together on a parched lakebed in the park, which transforms into lush grazing grounds from June to August. Among them are tuskers, male elephants carrying tusks that weigh over 100 pounds.
