SITC Shipowning, a subsidiary of SITC International Holdings in China, has ordered two more 1,800 TEU container ships from Huanghai Shipbuilding, bringing the total vessels from this series to ten. The company has allocated around $57.96 million for these units, with an expected delivery date set for March and May 2028. SITC has been expanding its container ship fleet through strategic contracts with Huanghai Shipbuilding, including environmentally sustainable vessels with scrubbers. This latest order adds to the series of 1,800 TEU ships booked back in June 2024. SITC has been steadily increasing its fleet, with previous orders placed in 2022 and further options exercised in 2025. The Chinese company has maintained a strong position in the maritime industry despite challenges, and China has emerged as a key player in both shipowning and shipbuilding sectors. Other major shipping companies worldwide are also gearing up to receive new vessels constructed in China in the coming years.
