Simon Barnett has been named the new General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, transferring from the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok. With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Barnett has spent 15 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Beginning his career in a five-star hotel in Brisbane, Australia, he gained expertise in various departments before excelling in sales roles at luxury properties in the Gold Coast, London, and New York. Barnett’s previous roles include Director of Catering and Conference Services, Director of Marketing, and Hotel Manager in Sydney and Singapore. His most recent position in Bangkok involved launching a new restaurant, implementing a sustainability program, and organizing cultural experiences.
At Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Barnett aims to enhance the hotel’s offerings by highlighting the city’s diverse culture. He plans to introduce destination-led experiences focusing on local art, history, and traditions. Additionally, an expansion of the wellness program is in the works, featuring visiting practitioners and daily activities centered on mindfulness, healthy eating, and longevity. Barnett’s appointment is highly anticipated as he leads one of Kuala Lumpur’s premier retreats, aiming to ensure each guest feels valued, a principle he has upheld throughout his career.
