A new 35,000-square-foot destination is scheduled to open later this year in the former Lord & Taylor building in New York City. Shaver Hall, a highly anticipated food and entertainment venue in Midtown Manhattan, has unveiled design plans that offer a glimpse of the historic building’s transformation into an immersive culinary experience.

Situated at 424 Fifth Ave. within Amazon’s Hank Building, Shaver Hall will house 11 carefully selected food stalls, including an Omakase concept, a wine and cheese bar, an innovative steakhouse, and a modern bodega. The project aims to blend the building’s iconic past with a contemporary, upscale yet welcoming ambiance.

Randy DeWitt, co-founder of The Food Hall Co., expressed excitement about the release of the designs after years of planning. DeWitt envisions Shaver Hall as a space that redefines the food hall experience in Midtown, fostering connections, community, and culinary exploration while showcasing emerging chefs and the latest food trends.

The architectural design of Shaver Hall is led by ZGF, known for their work on projects like the Portland International Airport renovation and Google’s Spruce Goose Hangar. The design team at ICRAVE has incorporated rich jewel tones, metallic accents, warm woods, and textured surfaces to pay homage to the building’s heritage while creating a modern dining environment.

Shaver Hall will not only offer curated culinary options but also a central performance space, serving as a platform for creatives from various backgrounds. The project involves industry-leading partners in construction management, engineering, and design to bring this vision to life.

Shaver Hall, named after Dorothy Shaver, the dynamic President of Lord & Taylor, is set to open in late 2025, promising to redefine the culinary scene in Midtown Manhattan by celebrating local flavors and traditions. The Food Hall Co., known for creating innovative dining concepts, is behind this venture, aiming to provide a vibrant hub for food lovers and cultural enthusiasts in the heart of New York City.
