Two Secret Service officers have been suspended after an on-duty altercation, according to the agency. The Secret Service’s responsibilities include protecting key individuals, locations, and national events. Agents and officers are authorized to carry out warrants, possess firearms, and make arrests under U.S. criminal law.

The Secret Service disclosed that two Uniformed Division officers were involved in an altercation at 2:30 a.m. on May 21 and have been suspended pending an internal investigation. The agency emphasized its strict code of conduct for employees and stated that any violations are unacceptable. A surveillance video outside Barack Obama’s residence in Washington, D.C. captured the incident, as reported by NBC News and Real Clear Politics.

The authenticity of the video posted by correspondent Susan Crabtree on X has not been independently verified by Newsweek, and further confirmation has been requested from the Secret Service. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson and former NYPD commanding officer Paul Mauro reacted to the news on social media. The course of the investigation and its timeline remain uncertain at this time.
