Cardiff, California, May 18, 2025 – Following the conclusion of the school year, many support services for individuals with special needs come to an end, leaving families with uncertainty about the future. Samantha’s Outings, a nonprofit based in San Diego, is addressing this crucial gap by announcing the acquisition of their first transportation van. This marks a significant step in their mission to provide structure, support, and a sense of community to young adults aged 18-55 with special needs.
Founded by Sarah Vasquez, a mother who understands the challenges faced when a child with special needs transitions out of the system, Samantha’s Outings was established to offer companionship and assistance during this often neglected phase of life. In just a year, Sarah has brought together over 150 families through monthly themed gala events featuring dinner, dancing, live music, and peer support, creating a space where families feel acknowledged, supported, and less isolated.
Sarah Vasquez, Founder and CEO of Samantha’s Outings, emphasized the significance of these gatherings beyond just entertainment, stating, “They are about building connections – bringing families together, sharing resources, and nurturing a sense of belonging. Samantha’s Outings was born from a personal need I identified for my own daughter, and its growth has revealed that many others seek the same support.”
The newly acquired van will be utilized to introduce group outings for young adults with special needs, with initial plans for trips to Seaport Village in San Diego and the Oceanside Harbor. This is just the start, as Samantha’s Outings envisions expanding to a full fleet of vehicles and a comprehensive day program in the near future.
In addition to physical events, the organization recently launched a new online platform at www.samanthasoutings.com, where families can register for events, connect through a private chat board, and access webinars led by professional service providers such as behavioral therapists, self-determination coaches, and wellness practitioners. This online presence ensures that families, regardless of their location, can benefit from the Samantha’s Outings community and services.
Samantha’s Outings is a nonprofit organization that is steadily growing and dedicated to supporting families of young adults with special needs by offering social, emotional, and logistical support through engaging events, resource sharing, and now transportation services.
