Actor Ryan Phillippe and a restaurant he is involved with are facing legal trouble as a woman is suing them over an incident where a candle allegedly set her hair on fire.

The woman, Jody Sanders, is suing Phillippe, event professional Jeffrey Best, and The Hideaway restaurant for negligence. She claims that despite not being in the kitchen, she couldn’t handle the heat during a lunch visit.

Sanders alleges that during an event at the Beverly Hills hotspot in April 2024, her hair was burned by an unattended candle on the bar’s surface. She is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit.

Phillippe is a minority investor in The Hideaway, which opened in Beverly Hills in July 2022 and counts Diana Ross’ son Evan among its investors. The upscale steakhouse and taco joint offers high-priced steaks and bar tacos with Chilean seabass.

Known for his roles in movies like “Cruel Intentions” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” Ryan Phillippe has not responded to the lawsuit so far.
