Randy Villegas is mounting a challenge to GOP Rep. David Valadao

Randy Villegas, a school board trustee from Visalia, California, is the newest Democrat seeking to challenge Republican Rep. David Valadao. Unlike his predecessors, Villegas is not attempting to appeal to the center. Instead, he is banking on economic populism to gain traction in a swing district that remains a key focus for Democrats. Villegas also intends to connect Valadao with President Donald Trump as part of his campaign strategy.
