Radisson Hotel Group has made a significant move towards achieving Net Zero by 2050 by unveiling its first two Verified Net Zero hotels. The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre and the Radisson RED Oslo City Centre have met the 2040 criteria of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, focusing on reducing carbon emissions from energy, operations, and supply chains.

Both hotels have implemented various sustainability measures to cut their carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as outlined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. They have switched to 100% renewable energy from local sources and have electrified functions like heating and cooking. For instance, the Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre has installed heat pumps and fully electrified its kitchen, while the Radisson RED Oslo City Centre benefits from renewable electricity and district heating.

The hotels have also embraced waste-reducing initiatives such as food waste management systems and bulk bathroom amenities to reduce plastic waste. They are also focusing on offering low-carbon menus to reduce the carbon impact of their food offerings, with clear labels informing guests about the carbon footprint of dishes.

The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre features a modern Scandinavian-inspired design with 252 rooms, an outdoor terrace, a spa, and advanced event facilities. As for the Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, it combines contemporary design with a sustainability focus, offering guests a stylish yet eco-friendly atmosphere.

Radisson Hotel Group’s commitment to sustainability extends to its partnership with Klimato to develop low-carbon menus for its Verified Net Zero properties, aiming to reduce carbon footprints by up to 40% without compromising on taste. The hotels have also implemented waste reduction strategies to minimize waste sent to landfills and ensure more sustainable operations.

With the launch of these two Verified Net Zero hotels, Radisson Hotel Group is demonstrating its dedication to sustainable hospitality and its goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. This milestone reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and sets the stage for future progress in this area.
