QatarEnergy has recently launched two solar projects in the country, doubling Qatar’s solar capacity. The projects were inaugurated by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Ras Laffan industrial city. This initiative is crucial for Qatar as it aims to reduce carbon emissions and diversify its sources of electricity generation. The company plans to take a more direct role in commissioning and maintaining solar projects in the future. Additionally, QatarEnergy is set to build a 2GW PV project in Dukhan by 2029, contributing significantly to the country’s electricity demand.
