Prysmian, an Italian cable systems company, has expanded its subsea power cable factory in Finland and named a new cable laying vessel, CLV Monna Lisa, as part of enhancing its Transmission business. The vessel, equipped for submarine cable installation, is considered environmentally friendly with features like high-voltage shore connection and a battery hybrid system. Prysmian’s CEO emphasized the importance of Transmission and investments in Europe for energy security. The company is also investing in meeting the growing demand for submarine cables driven by interconnectors and offshore wind, with plans to have eight vessels in operation by 2028.
