Polish companies have secured contracts for conducting a specialized geophysical survey of the Baltic Sea seabed for the Baltica 9 offshore wind farm. PGE Baltica has signed an agreement with a consortium of local companies for this purpose. The survey will be carried out to identify any unexploded ordnance and shallow gas in the area. Geo Ingenieurservice Polska from Gdynia and Baltic Diving Solutions from Rumia are the two companies responsible for conducting the survey. The work will involve conducting the geophysical survey, processing and analyzing the gathered data, and issuing ALARP certificates for selected sites on the Baltic Sea seabed where future geotechnical surveys are planned. The survey is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2025, based on locations identified in a previous 2D Ultra-High-Resolution geophysical campaign conducted by Geofizyka Toruń SA. The Baltica 9 offshore wind farm, planned to cover 121 square kilometers and located around 48 kilometers offshore, could potentially have an installed capacity of approximately 975 MW.
