Petrovietnam and Gazprom have discussed plans to enhance gas production off Vietnam during a meeting. The meeting, part of a visit by a Vietnamese delegation to Russia, involved talks on energy projects in both countries. The focus was on the development of gas fields in Vietnam’s Nam Con Son Basin, with an infill drilling stage proposed for Two Thach and Moc chimpanzee gas fields. Gazprom’s subsidiary is also involved in blocks offshore Vietnam, with discussions on promoting upstream investment in these areas. Since the launch of commercial gas production in 2013, over 19 billion cubic meters of gas and 20 million barrels of condensate have been produced. Additionally, an oil discovery was made in the Cuu Long Basin by Murphy Oil, with PetroVietnam Exploration Production and SK Earthon as partners.
