Portuguese Firm Secures €250M Contract for Oil Platform Work with Petrobras

Empresa Construtora do Brasil, an affiliate of Portugal’s Mota-Engil engineering group, has landed a contract with Petrobras, the Brazilian state-owned energy company, for maintenance and construction services. The contract, valued at approximately €250 million (1.61 billion Brazilian reais), is scheduled to run for 48 months. This win will enhance Mota-Engil’s presence in Brazil, where the company aims to strengthen its foothold in the market.

The contract includes maintenance, construction, and assembly work on offshore oil platforms. Tasks involve various activities such as piping installation, metal structure manufacturing and installation, boiler making, scaffolding assembly, painting, as well as electrical and instrumentation maintenance and automation.

Apart from awarding engineering contracts, Petrobras has been actively engaged in exploration and production projects domestically. Recently, the company initiated production from the FPSO vessel Alexandre de Gusmão in the Merofield of Brazil’s Santos Basin, under a 22.5-year lease agreement with SBM Offshore. The vessel now operates alongside four other FPSOs in the field: Pioneer of Libra, Guanabara, Sepetiba, and Marshal Duque de Caxias.

Earlier this month, Petrobras announced a discovery of high-quality oil without contaminants in the 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS exploratory well in the Aram block within the Santos Basin.
