Nonprofits Connect to Strengthen the Community at the Recent Charity Coalition

Clearwater, FL, May 03, 2025 – On April 16, 2025, representatives from 27 charities gathered at the Spring Charity Coalition Luncheon hosted by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization with the aim of strengthening the community. The event featured networking, a gourmet lunch, and a fundraising educational session led by Heather Reuscher, the Director of Development for Hero to a Child.

Pinellas County is home to 1,223 nonprofit organizations that address various community issues such as rescuing stray animals, feeding the homeless, and maintaining clean parks. A recent national nonprofit study showed that 47% of nonprofits lack the resources needed to carry out their programs in 2025, highlighting the importance of collaboration.

Lisa Mansell, the Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology in Clearwater, emphasized the significance of collaboration and networking within the nonprofit sector. She stated that the Church hosts quarterly luncheons to foster new partnerships and support nonprofits in achieving their goals.

Among the attendees was Shihan’s School of Survival, a martial arts nonprofit for youth in Pinellas County founded by Walter Evans 25 years ago. Evans stressed the value of networking and forming partnerships within the community to advance nonprofit initiatives.
