Nolte: Disney+ Introduces ‘Violent Rape’ of ‘Undocumented’ Immigrants in ‘Star Wars’ Series

Disney’s latest Star Wars streaming series, Andor, by The Disney Grooming Syndicate, features a storyline where an Imperial officer attempts to violently assault a Rebel fugitive who is hiding in a farming settlement while Imperial troops are gathering ‘undocumented’ citizens. The officer’s persistent flirtation with Bix escalates into a life-and-death struggle in the show’s third episode, resulting in Bix overpowering and killing the officer. The show leaves no ambiguity as Bix explicitly states, “He tried to rape me!”

Series creator Tony Gilroy defended this creative decision by stating that history is filled with instances of rape and that it felt organic and appropriate for the story. Gilroy further explained that the theme of rape was essential to Bix’s character development.

Despite the controversial content, Gilroy received no objections from Disney executives, who have been criticized for changing the essence of Star Wars since acquiring the franchise from George Lucas.

The inclusion of rape in a Star Wars storyline has sparked debate, with some arguing that certain themes may not align with the original tone of the franchise.
