Néstor J. Ruiz Doreste, Chief Operations Officer of IHP Hospitality, was recently honored with the ALIS CALA Rising Star Award by the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) in partnership with ALIS Caribbean and Latin America (ALIS CALA).

Ruiz Doreste, a third-generation hospitality executive, manages a range of properties under IHP Hospitality, including renowned brands like Marriott and Best Western. His leadership style, influenced by his military training at West Point and education at the University of Pittsburgh, emphasizes talent development and operational excellence, reflecting his commitment to the family business in Puerto Rico.

Expressing gratitude for the award, Ruiz Doreste emphasized the importance of legacy, responsibility, and passion in the hospitality industry. Colleagues praised his leadership qualities, noting his dedication to projects like the ‘Square District’ revitalization in Mayaguez, showcasing his operational prowess and community engagement.

The ALIS CALA Rising Star Award recognizes young leaders in the hospitality industry, with Ruiz Doreste meeting the criteria of being under 35 years old, actively working in the field, and making significant contributions to the Caribbean and Latin American regions. Despite being unable to attend the award ceremony due to family commitments, the honor was accepted on his behalf by his sister, Claire Ruiz Doreste, CFO of IHP Hospitality.

This award, presented during the ALIS CALA event at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel in Florida, highlights emerging talent in the industry and underscores the importance of nurturing future leaders in hospitality.
