No Foul Play Suspected After 6-Year-Girl Is Found Dead in Livestock Barrel

Officials announced on Thursday that the death of a 6-year-old girl from Mississippi, who was found hours after going missing on Sunday, was accidental. The girl, Gracelynn Vick, was discovered in a large livestock food barrel near her family’s home in Saucier. While the specific cause of her death remains unknown, authorities believe she climbed into the barrel while playing and got stuck, leading to her passing.

Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley compared Vick’s death to being trapped in a hot car, stating that limited oxygen and heat stress in the barrel likely played a role in her death. Surveillance footage from the day she went missing showed no one else on the property.

The medical examiner did not find any signs of trauma, neglect, or abuse on Vick’s body, and foul play is not suspected in her death. To stay updated on the latest crime and justice news, you can subscribe to the ‘Crime Stories with Nancy Grace’ podcast.
