Nissan Is The Target Of A Class Action Lawsuit In America

Nissan is currently facing a lawsuit in California over a potential defect in its door lock actuators. The lawsuit alleges that the automaker failed to disclose this known issue, which could result in doors opening unexpectedly while driving or failing to open at all. The affected models include the Altima, Rogue, and Sentra ranging from 2013 to 2025.

One plaintiff, Dina Kalifa, who bought a 2020 Nissan Rogue, claims she was unaware of the actuator problem and would not have made the purchase if she had known. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received complaints about similar failures in these Nissan models, including instances where doors failed to unlock in emergency situations.

The lawsuit contends that Nissan had prior knowledge of the issues with the door lock actuators, as evidenced by a previous recall in 2015. Allegations include doors opening while driving, locking or unlocking spontaneously, and instances where owners were unable to exit their vehicles due to malfunctioning doors. Kalifa is seeking a jury trial, claiming violations of consumer protection laws and unfair competition practices.
