Faith Live has called off the Newsboys’ 2025 Canadian tour due to uncertainties surrounding the sudden departure of lead singer Michael Tait. The decision was made after careful consideration, prayer, and a commitment to upholding the integrity of worship, according to Faith Live founder Sheena Hennink. The ministry expressed concerns over the lack of transparency from the band regarding Tait’s exit and the inadequate support provided for new frontman Adam Agee.
Faith Live stated that they were not informed in advance about the lineup change and were instructed not to address questions about it, which they believed compromised their integrity. As ticket holders await refunds, Faith Live pledged to reach out to them within 30 days.
On the other hand, the Newsboys expressed disappointment in Faith Live for canceling the tour, alleging breaches of agreement and failure to meet essential obligations. The band emphasized their efforts to maintain transparency and fulfill their responsibilities, attributing the cancellation to the promoter’s actions.
Despite the controversy, both Faith Live and the Newsboys remain committed to their fans and the music ministry, expressing hopes for future collaborations when trust and partnerships are solidified. Michael Tait’s departure, attributed to personal reasons, led to Agee taking over as the new lead singer. Agee expressed understanding of Tait’s decision and wished him well in his future endeavors.
