Mitsui, a major Japanese company, has made an investment in Infinium Holdings, a U.S.-based provider of gas conversion solutions specializing in e-fuels technology. This move marks Mitsui’s second venture in synthetic fuel, following a previous investment in Twelve Benefit Corporation. Synthetic e-fuels, created through chemical reactions involving green hydrogen and carbon dioxide, are anticipated to play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in sectors like transportation and industry. Infinium, known for its innovative RWGS process, operates a production plant in Texas and is planning a new facility in West Texas. The company has partnered with Summit Carbon Solutions to secure a stable supply of CO2 for e-fuel production. Mitsui is actively advancing its carbon value chain initiatives, aiming to enhance its carbon-neutral fuel business by integrating clean energy development with various CO2 sources.
