Manitowoc Rolls Out Grove GHC200, Its Largest Telescopic Crawler Crane

Manitowoc has introduced its biggest Grove telescopic crawler crane, the GHC200, with a capacity of 200 tons and a height of 185 feet. This crane is self-rigging and can be transported to a worksite in six to seven loads. If needed, it can be configured with a 71.5-foot manual or hydraulic swing-away extension to reach a total height of 265.7 feet.

The GHC200 crane can rotate 360 degrees and carry 100% of its load chart on inclines up to 4 degrees. Designed for heavy-duty lifting on rough terrain like swamps and mountains, it is set to enhance companies’ competitiveness in securing projects that demand higher lifting capacities. According to Manitowoc’s product manager for GHC cranes, JJ Grace, the crane’s robustness and improved pick-and-carry capabilities make it well-suited for general construction and renewable-energy projects.

The GHC200’s cab can tilt up to 20 degrees for better visibility when working at high angles with an extended boom. It features a large air-suspension, heated seat; climate control; and camera views of the hoist, rear, and right side.

Key features of the crane include a Cummins 86.7L Tier 4 Final diesel engine, hydraulically extendable and retractable tracks, multiple tool and storage boxes, additional pinning locations on the boom sections for increased capacity and versatility, frame-mounted jacks for track installation, and hydraulically installed counterweights. The main and optional auxiliary hoists come with drum rotation and third wrap indicators, along with a 26-millimeter wire rope for a maximum single-line pull of 29,765 pounds.

Weighing 340,900 pounds, the GHC200 is the largest in Manitowoc’s Grove telescopic crawler crane range, surpassing the 140-ton-capacity GHC140 with a main boom length of 171 feet.
