Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has introduced Castello di Procopio to its collection, marking its inaugural property in Umbria, Italy. This 12th-century estate blends historic architecture with modern comforts, offering guests an immersive experience to explore the region’s rich culture and heritage.

The property, originally commissioned by Holy Roman Emperor Frederico Barbarossa, has been meticulously restored to retain its medieval features like ancient stonework and vaulted ceilings, while incorporating contemporary luxuries. Situated on 11 acres of olive groves and vineyards, Castello di Procopio provides picturesque views of the surrounding landscape, including Assisi.

“We consider Castello di Procopio to embody the essence of a Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Home, with its genuine heritage, elegant design, and exceptional service,” said Ersev Demiroz, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes. The estate features eight en-suite bedrooms for up to 16 guests, each designed with premium materials and modern amenities while preserving its historic allure.

Guests can enjoy shared spaces like the reception hall, library, and bar lounge, along with services such as a heated outdoor pool, spa suite, and access to local cultural and culinary experiences. The property’s private chef crafts meals using local ingredients, highlighting traditional Umbrian cuisine, and guests can partake in wine tastings or private tours of nearby attractions.

The inclusion of Castello di Procopio in the Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes portfolio underscores the brand’s commitment to blending heritage with contemporary luxury. In addition to this addition, Mandarin Oriental has recently expanded to renowned destinations like Paris, Cannes, Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona, demonstrating its dynamic growth and interest in the European market, especially Italy with openings in Milan and Lago di Como, as well as the latest addition of Castello di Procopio.
