The Lagos State Government has confirmed its dedication to promoting tourism while commemorating the one-year anniversary of Pelumi Nubi’s historic solo car trip from London to Lagos. Pelumi, a travel content creator and Tourism Ambassador, embarked on her journey on January 30, 2024, driving a Peugeot 107 Hatchback. She completed her epic 68-day trip on April 7, 2024, arriving in Lagos to a warm reception.

During the anniversary event, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, praised Pelumi’s achievement, highlighting the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for investing in youth and creative industries. He emphasized that Pelumi’s journey symbolizes inspiration and showcases Lagos as a hub for youth development and creativity.

Additionally, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, commended Pelumi for her courage and vision, noting her role as an ambassador for Nigerian resilience and innovation. Pelumi, who launched her debut book chronicling her journey during the anniversary event, expressed gratitude for the support from the Lagos State Government and residents, emphasizing the city’s excellence and creativity.
