A man from Las Vegas, John Anthony Miller, was sentenced to 46 months in prison for making threats against a U.S. senator from Nevada and the family members of two other senators. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Jennifer Dorsey, who also ordered three years of supervised release for Miller. The threats made by Miller were described as vile and dehumanizing by Sue Bai, head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division. Miller pleaded guilty to charges of threatening a federal official and making threats against family members of federal officials. Court documents revealed that Miller left threatening messages for the senator between October 11-19, 2023, using obscene language and referencing violent acts. He also attempted to approach the senator at a Las Vegas courthouse and was denied entry. The incident led to Miller being arrested on October 26, 2023.
