Kia’s EV3 compact electric SUV has been named the “2025 World Car of The Year” at the 2025 World Car Awards held at the New York International Auto Show. The EV3 stood out from competitors like the BMW X3 and Hyundai Inster to secure the prestigious award. With its cutting-edge technology and impressive range of up to 605 km, the EV3 can charge from 10-80 percent in just 31 minutes due to its rapid charging capabilities.
Kia’s President and CEO, Ho Sung Song, expressed pride in receiving the title, emphasizing Kia’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions. The EV3’s win marks Kia’s sixth victory at the World Car Awards since 2020, with previous awards going to models like the EV9 and EV6 GT.
Other winners at the 2025 World Car Awards include the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS for World Performance Car, Hyundai Inster for World Electric Vehicle, and Volvo EX90 for World Luxury Car. The awards, judged by a panel of 96 international automotive journalists, also recognized vehicles like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz for World Car Design Of The Year and the BYD Seagull / Dolphin Mini for World Urban Car.
Hyundai Inster was also recognized separately for winning the “2025 World Electric Vehicle” title for its unique design, impressive range, and advanced technology.
