Jimmy Butler exits Game 2 with pelvis contusion after scary fall in Warriors concern

Jimmy Butler exited Game 2 against the Rockets early on Wednesday night due to a hard fall during the first quarter. The Golden State player was injured while going for a rebound, resulting in a visible display of pain as he hit the court. The Warriors later announced that Butler would not return for the night due to a pelvis contusion, but the severity of the injury remains uncertain.

The incident occurred with 2:28 remaining in the first quarter when Butler was undercut by Houston’s Amen Thompson beneath the basket. Thompson’s attempt to maneuver past another Warriors player caused him to fall forward, colliding with Butler’s legs and causing him to crash to the ground.

The impact of the fall was significant, as a loud thud could be heard upon Butler hitting the floor. He immediately reacted in pain, rolling over and holding his backside before lying down on the court.

Despite initially trying to continue playing, Butler eventually had to leave the game and head to the team’s locker room. The Athletic reported that Butler, accompanied by his agent and trainer, walked cautiously from the X-ray room back to the locker room. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. was also seen checking on Butler.

Butler had only played for eight minutes and scored three points on 1-of-2 shooting before the injury occurred, with the Rockets leading 22-15 at that point. Alongside Butler, guard Brandin Podziemski also had to exit the game in the first quarter due to a stomach issue. Podziemski’s return was uncertain, as Golden State coach Steve Kerr mentioned he was dealing with a stomach problem caused by something he ate.
