Japanese Car Sales in the US See Significant Increase Despite Tariffs

Sales of major Japanese car manufacturers in the United States experienced a notable surge in March, driven by the tariffs imposed by the US starting on April 3.

Toyota witnessed an 8 percent increase in sales compared to the same month last year. Honda saw a 13 percent rise in car sales, while Nissan reported a 10 percent growth in US sales, as per the data released by the manufacturers on Thursday.

It appears that Americans are willing to back the 25 percent tariff on imported cars, which could potentially raise the prices of foreign cars by at least 10 percent in the US.

To counteract the impact of the tariffs, several Japanese automakers are implementing changes. For instance, Honda is planning to shift the production of hybrid versions of its Civic model to the US, and Nissan has stopped US orders for SUVs built in Mexico.
