Israel’s security cabinet has reportedly approved a plan to increase its military activities in Gaza. According to sources, the plan includes establishing a permanent presence in the region. The decision was shared with CNN, NBC News, and ABC News following the vote.

An Israeli official informed CNN that the new strategy involves seizing territory in Gaza, displacing the Palestinian population to southern Gaza, and launching strong attacks against Hamas. The escalation of the conflict will be carried out gradually, with opportunities for new ceasefires and hostage release deals before the upcoming visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the region later this month.

The security cabinet meeting also discussed the possibility of lifting the blockade on humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, which has been enforced for more than eight weeks. Both Israeli and U.S. officials indicated that discussions have taken place on delivering aid to Gaza through channels that bypass Hamas, with an announcement expected in the near future.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 52,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began. This includes over 2,400 fatalities since mid-March when a two-month ceasefire was broken.
