Intermountain Riverton Hospital has partnered with the National Allergy Bureau to become a certified pollen counting station. This new tool will assist patients and allergists in better understanding and managing allergies in the community.
A Burkard Pollen and Spore collector device has been installed on the hospital’s roof to collect mold scores and pollen counts. The device will operate 24/7, providing accurate information on the specific pollens present each day. The collected data will be analyzed by an NAB certified allergist, helping patients in the Southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley coordinate their care and treatment plans more effectively.
Dr. Scott Taylor, an allergist at Intermountain Riverton Southridge Allergy Clinic, emphasized the importance of consulting with allergists for proper testing and treatment. The pollen counter data will enable tailored treatment plans for patients with allergies, asthma symptoms, and immunology issues.
