Yemen’s Houthi rebels have confirmed an agreement with the United States to halt attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea in exchange for a pause in U.S. airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. Houthi Spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam clarified that the ceasefire with the U.S. does not affect their support for Gaza. He expressed that Yemen’s support for Gaza will continue to grow positively. The U.S. and Israel recently took action against Houthi piracy and terrorism. The Israelis targeted Yemen’s international airport in Sanaa following a missile incident near Ben Gurion Airport. The Houthi spokesperson emphasized that the ceasefire deal focused on stopping U.S. aggression against Yemen and attacks on U.S. ships. The Iranian Foreign Ministry distanced Tehran from the Houthis, denying involvement in the missile attack on Ben Gurion airport. President Donald Trump stated that Iran would be held accountable for Houthi actions. Trump mentioned that the Houthis agreed to a ceasefire through Oman as a mediator. Oman stated that the deal aimed to ensure freedom of navigation and the smooth flow of international shipping in the Red Sea. The agreement did not include any mention of Israel.
