Heated NFL meeting descends into chaos as tush push compared to ‘wet dream’

During a recent NFL meeting on Wednesday, team owners and league executives engaged in a tense discussion about the future of a controversial football play known as the tush push. Despite efforts by the Packers to eliminate the play, a proposal to ban it was ultimately unsuccessful, allowing it to remain a legal move in the league. The debate surrounding the play led to some heated exchanges among attendees at the meeting in Minnesota, as reported by ESPN.

The prominent tush push play associated with the Eagles was a focal point of the discussion. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie defended the play passionately, even making a somewhat explicit comment likening it to a “wet dream for a teenage boy” during his speech. Lurie expressed his satisfaction with the situation, regardless of the ban’s outcome, emphasizing that the play’s success had prompted other teams to consider banning it as the only way to counter its effectiveness.

The NFL’s executive vice president of football operations, Troy Vincent, criticized Lurie for his choice of words, particularly in the presence of women at the meeting. Furthermore, 49ers owner Jed York playfully teased Lurie about the length of his speech, questioning how much more he had to say on the matter.

Despite various discussions and differing opinions, the proposal to ban the tush push fell short of the required votes for approval, with the rule change being defeated by a margin of two votes. Notably, teams such as the Eagles, Ravens, Browns, Lions, Jaguars, Dolphins, Patriots, Saints, Jets, and Titans all voted against the measure.

Following the decision, the Eagles’ social media team appeared to subtly mock the Packers with a post featuring an image of the Eagles playing against Green Bay, accompanied by the caption “Push On.”
