The mother of three girls from Washington who were allegedly killed by their homeless father expressed her anguish, stating that their deaths could have been prevented if authorities had taken action on her requests for an Amber Alert when the children first went missing. Whitney Decker, the mother, mentioned that she was aware of the significant danger her daughters – Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 – were in when their father, Travis Decker, failed to return them home after his court-ordered visitation. Reports from The Seattle Times revealed that the girls were tragically found murdered after not returning from their visit with their father. Whitney’s lawyer, Arianna Cozart, emphasized that the police should have shown more concern for the missing children, even without an explicit threat being made. Cozart claimed that the local authorities were inclined to issue an Amber Alert, but the State Patrol determined that the case did not meet the necessary criteria. Instead, an Endangered Missing Persons Advisory was issued for the girls, which lacks the widespread public alerts associated with an Amber Alert.
