Georgia DOT to Require E-Ticketing for Contractors in 2026

The Georgia Department of Transportation will soon require its contractors to use e-ticketing provided by TruckIT, joining other states with similar regulations. As a precursor, GDOT has started a pilot program using both digital and paper tickets for aggregate and concrete deliveries. This initiative, which began in March and will continue through June, aims to prepare for a full e-ticketing implementation next year. States like Alabama, Florida, Iowa, and others already enforce e-ticketing on DOT projects. GDOT’s guidelines mandate that vehicles carrying weighted materials be equipped with GPS tracking for load monitoring and location reporting. By 2026, field inspectors will access ticket data through state-issued mobile devices to generate digital bills of lading instantly. GDOT intends to use TruckIT’s AirTicket platform to enhance billing efficiency and reduce disputes or fraud. TruckIT also offers an Automatic-PIC system utilizing AI and computer vision for hybrid workflows like Georgia’s current setup.
