Gateway Church has named Pastor Daniel Floyd as its new senior pastor following the resignation of Robert Morris. Floyd, known for his shepherding heart and vision guided by the Holy Spirit, steps into this new role. The appointment comes after Morris stepped down last year amid allegations of child sexual abuse.
During a Sunday announcement, longtime church elder Tra Willbanks informed the congregation of Floyd’s selection. Describing the thorough selection process, Willbanks mentioned consulting with pastors across the United States to find a leader who could provide spiritual guidance and direction for the church.
Floyd, the founder of Lifepoint Church and Lifepoint College, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead Gateway Church. He emphasized the sacred calling he and his wife feel in taking on this responsibility, highlighting their dedication to shepherding communities.
Following close collaboration with Gateway Church’s elders, Floyd and his family are ready to embark on this new journey. Floyd’s preaching experience and commitment to working closely with church staff and volunteers were key factors in his selection.
With two master’s degrees from Liberty University and a doctorate from Southeastern University, Floyd brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role. His wife, who earned her degree from Liberty University, is equally committed to the church’s mission.
The church community eagerly anticipates the leadership and vision Pastor Daniel Floyd will bring in this new chapter for Gateway Church.
