Franklin Graham, the head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin on Wednesday. During the meeting, Graham offered prayers for the leaders involved in peace negotiations, which include Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Graham expressed his belief that only God can resolve the challenging situations in Ukraine and Russia. Zelensky, in turn, thanked Graham for his prayers and the assistance provided by Samaritan’s Purse, a humanitarian organization based in North Carolina.
While in Berlin for the European Congress on Evangelism, Graham highlighted the importance of prayer, especially for the leaders involved in the conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized the need for Christians to be bold in sharing the Gospel and to stand firm on biblical teachings.
During his address at the conference, Graham shared details of his meeting with Zelensky and called for an end to the war in Ukraine. He also led a prayer for Putin, Zelensky, and Trump, urging others to join in praying for peace.
Zelensky, who was seeking more military support during his visit to Berlin, also pushed for Ukraine’s inclusion in the NATO summit, a move that could provoke Russia. Meanwhile, Russia called for a U.N. Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine, accusing Europe of hindering peace efforts.
In response to Putin’s actions, President Trump issued a two-week deadline for Russia to show a genuine commitment to ending the war, warning of a different response if no progress is made.
