Former Biden diplomat says there’s ‘no question’ that ‘free Palestine’ slogan has become a call for violence

A former diplomat who served under President Biden stated that the slogan “Free Palestine” has now turned into a call for violence. Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, the former Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, expressed her views on CNN, emphasizing that the slogan is now associated with urging violent attacks against Jewish individuals, rather than just being a statement of support for Palestine. Lipstadt mentioned that the recent killing of two Israeli embassy staffers is a result of this rise in antisemitism, echoing concerns about the safety of Jewish people in various settings. She also highlighted the need for heightened security measures at Jewish establishments due to ongoing threats. Lipstadt further addressed the alleged murderer shouting “free Palestine” and discussed the potential link between the slogan and incitement to violence. She stressed that regardless of the original intention behind the slogan, its current usage promotes violence against Jews and constitutes a form of antisemitism.
